Houma homeowner shoots intruder, two arrested

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — The Houma Police Department is investigating a home invasion turned shooting that was reported on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

The HPD reported officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 300 block of Roberta Grove Boulevard around 5:15 a.m.

At the scene, HPD officers said they spoke with the homeowner, who told them he heard a noise in his home and found the suspect downstairs.

The homeowner said he shot at the suspect, identified by the HPD as Dex Hebert, who allegedly ran away after.

HPD detectives said they later found Hebert in the 1200 block of Gibb Street, along with a woman who was also allegedly involved in the burglary.

Officers alleged that the woman, identified as Tye Corbitt, came outside with a gun and told them Hebert was inside the home, suffering with a gunshot wound to his forehead.

A K-9 found Hebert, and both suspects were arrested.

Hebert faces charges of simple burglary and outstanding warrant for probation violation.

Corbitt faces charges of simple burglary, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
