HOTC seeks volunteers for annual HOTC Day

Sep. 24—THOMASVILLE- Hands On Thomas County (HOTC) is seeking volunteers for the 20th annual HOTC Day which will take place on Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. — noon. HOTC Day is the Thomasville community's largest day of service. Over the past 20 years, more than 18,400 volunteers have donated 80,000 hours of their time and skills to benefit 79,000 individuals and hundreds of local non-profits during this event alone.

"Our goal is to unite the community through service, and volunteer events like HOTC Day. We are always so proud to see so many people coming together to lend a hand to improve our people and places, and to help our non-profit agencies who do so much for the community." said HOTC Executive Director Angela Kiminas.

For the 20th anniversary, more than 60 project sites throughout Thomas County are currently on the roster for the October event including some that participated in the very first HOTC Day such as Thomasville Humane, Vashti, and the Thomasville History Center. Over 1,200 volunteers are needed to help with community beautification, painting, landscaping, animal care, human services, and more.

"I don't think people really realize what an impact they each make when they volunteer on this day in particular — not only on the community as a whole, but on themselves," said HOTC Program and Events Director Lisa Scully. "When everyone pulls together, we make amazing things happen!"

Participating volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt and BBQ lunch, plus lots of other fun and goodies happening at the Celebration Luncheon immediately following including Blue Bell ice cream, a DJ, bounce house, photo booth, raffle drawings, and more.

Volunteer registration is now available online for individuals, families, businesses, groups and organizations who wish to be a part of this giant day of service. To sign up, visit www.HandsOnThomasCounty.org/hotcday2023.
