Singapore may be in for a hot few weeks as daily maximum temperatures are expected to range between 33 degrees Celsius (deg C) and 35 deg C, with some days hitting as high as 36 deg C.

An advisory from the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) has said that “significantly warm days can still be expected” to persist into May 2016 as inter-monsoon conditions have set in over the region.

Warmer weather is common during the inter-monsoon period, during which there is stronger solar heating and winds are generally light, it said.

Offering some mild relief are the brief, thundery afternoon showers that may fall on five to seven days over the next fortnight. The average rainfall for April 2016 is expected to be near average.

The MSS report also noted that the first two weeks of April 2016 were significantly warmer than average, with the highest daily maximum temperature ranging between 34.1 deg C and 36.7 deg C.

Rainfall for this period was below average, with the highest measure (126mm) being recorded in Singapore’s western region around Jurong and the lowest reading (20mm) being taken in the island’s northern areas around Admiralty.
