Hot and mainly dry days into the weekend

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – It gets warm quickly today with highs reaching 90 degrees in the afternoon. It could feel slightly warmer when you add in the humidity.

Watch for a few spotty late afternoon showers, mainly east of I-75. Similar conditions expected tomorrow with highs near 90 and a 20% chance of inland showers.

The rain chance drops to just 10% Thursday with a stronger breeze coming off the Gulf of Mexico.

We are tracking a weak cold front that drifts south Friday and Saturday. It should stir up a few extra showers Saturday, but the rain chance is still just 30%.

At this point, the front looks to get just far enough south to bring some less humid air to the Tampa Bay area on Mother’s Day. This could still change, so we will keep you updated. Highs will be in the mid 80s this weekend.

Looking long range, next week should produce more substantial rain chances that are definitely needed.
