Mom and Dad, if you ever see this, I'm sorry. I've created a monster - a beast with 22 hot dog tentacles. Or maybe I'm the monster for shooting this video and sharing the "recipe."

BUY A RAKE: Corona Leaf Rake, $33, amazon.com.

This hot dog hack is terrifying. It's a strange and disturbing concept that's scary to watch and even scarier to be chased by. (Yes, my coworker is cruel and this really did happen.) But cooking 20+ hot dogs over a campfire all at once is also pretty dang cool. So as disgusted as you may act while watching this video, aren't you also at least a little intrigued about how well it actually worked?

For anyone that's curious, I'll fill you in: Yes, it works! Pretty well in fact. However, if you're going to try this at home, here are some things to consider.

First and foremost, you need a clean rake. We didn't want to risk contamination and bought a cheap new one at ACE Hardware. Second obvious fact: rakes are bent at the ends, hence floppy-looking dogs. Try to straighten the tines as much as you can, but don't go too crazy. It's alright if the hot dogs curve a bit.

To cook the hot dogs, simply hold the whole rake over a campfire, rotating often. It'll depend on your fire, but it took us about 10 minutes to get the hot dogs nice and toasty. Please be warned that you'll need to flex some muscle. When loaded completely with franks, the rake can get a bit heavy, so you might want to take turns with a brave buddy.

Someone in the office asked me what to do with the rake after cooking. To him I said, "I have no idea." Honestly, I don't really care to answer as I will never cook hot dogs this way again. I'm traumatized by the whole experience. My days of stabbing hot dogs with large garden tools are officially over.
