Hospice ornaments and luminaries will help nonprofit, honor loved ones

Hospice of Davidson County is providing a way to help the nonprofit, decorate your home for the holidays and honor a loved one with by purchasing limited edition ornaments or a luminary.

This year’s memorial ornament is a white heart handcrafted by Breanna Macon of Macon a Mess Pottery in Seagrove. Individual ornaments are available for $15 and can be personalized with a name upon request. Luminaries, which can be personalized to honor or memorialize a loved one, are available for $10. An ornament and luminary package may be purchased for $20.

"We are excited to once again offer ornaments and luminaries this holiday season. This longstanding tradition provides a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to memorialize or honor their loved ones," said Brad Gaither, director of community relations.

Also new in 2022, Hospice is also offering a handcrafted angel made by former Hospice employee GwynStone of Stone Cottage Crafts. Each angel is packaged with a tea light. A limited supply of angels are sold for $25 individually, or can be packaged with an ornament and a luminary for a total of $40.Luminaries will be displayed at the Hospice of Davidson County campus located at 200 Hospice Way inLexington throughout the holiday season. Each luminary will hold a card honoring or memorializing aloved one.

Beginning on Friday, Dec. 2, the community is invited to drive through campus to experience the luminaries.The Night of Reflection annual events are set from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the bandstand/gazebo in downtown Thomasville and in Lexington on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Davidson County Historical Museum on Courthouse Square. At these free, floating events, community members can experience the beauty of luminaries while listening to music, enjoying light refreshments, having an opportunity for prayer or reflection, and learning about hospice care in Davidson County.

Ornaments may be picked up beginning on Nov. 28 from the Hospice Administrative Building, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or at either Night of Reflection event. Proceeds from the ornaments and luminaries are designated for the compassionate care and grief support of the agency’s patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.
