“31 years doesn’t seem that long now,” he said. “I decided to make my career with Horry County because of you, an amazing group of Professional Public Servants committed and dedicated to serving the public. I want to thank you for your support and friendship over the years.”

The administrator manages the day-to-day affairs of the county government and oversees more than 30 departments under three divisions — public safety, administration and infrastructure and regulation, according to the Horry County government website.

The county has three assistant administrators and nearly 1,700 employees.
