Hope Floats Race held at Whitewater Center in Charlotte

Thousands of rubber ducks were unleashed into the Whitewater Center in Charlotte Saturday afternoon.

It was for the 19th annual Hope Floats Duck Race put on by KinderMourn.

Kinder Mourn is a non-profit that works with bereaved parents, as well as grieving kids and teens.

Lori Hawe said the organization, which she now fundraises for, stepped in when her son died from a fentanyl overdose.

“It’s what I can do to give back to them. Everything they do for us is with that money and so it means a lot to me,” Hawe told Channel 9.

Over the past 19 years, the Hope Floats Duck Race has raised more than two and a half million dollars.
