Hop on over: Bunny adopted from NC animal shelter in running for Cadbury mascot

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A Jacksonville family is asking you to hop on over starting March 11 and vote for their adopted rabbit, who is in the running to be the next Cadbury bunny.

Sheldon is one of the 32 animals who are part of the “Round of Thirty-Cute” for the 2024 Cadbury Bunny Tryouts. Sophie Peterson, Sheldon’s owner, said he was adopted from Onslow County Animal Shelter in July of 2023.

“He loves exploring,” she said of the 1-year-old bunny. “He loves to eat homemade treats. He loves to be petted and snuggled. He loves to hop on furniture and climb on things. He is always full of energy and loves to play.

“He is also very gentle and loves to be around people. He is very well-behaved and loves to follow commands.”

You can start voting for Sheldon starting on March 11 at noon. You can follow @cadburyusa on Instagram and vote for him on their Instagram stories. He hopes to make it past the round of 32 and to the “Creme 16,” “Eggcelent 8,” “Final Fur,” and then on to the championship.

“Sheldon should be the 2024 Bunny because Sheldon is a playful and curious bunny,” Peterson said. “He is always looking for new things to do and loves to learn. He is a great example of how adoption can be a positive experience for both humans and animals.

“Sheldon is the perfect bunny to represent the 2024 Cadbury Bunny.”
