Today, Hood by Air announced that it is halting its operations. The brand's co-founders, Shayne Oliver and Leilah Weinraub, will be focusing on their separate projects. As announced in March, Oliver will be joining Helmut Lang to design a women's and men's capsule collection dropping in September. Weinraub is focusing on her film and directing career–her project "SHAKEDOWN," is screening at the Whitney Biennial in May.

"HBA will continue to fulfill its creative vision in the near future," a press release read. While vague, this signifies the brand is not done for good.

Hood by Air launched in 2006 and has been worn by the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West, and A$AP Rocky. Hood by Air canceled its Paris Fashion Week show last month because of Oliver's new role, but remains memorable for its conversation-starting designs (hello, two-faced boots), and runway shows like their Spring 2017 collaboration with PornHub, for which models appeared to walk down the runway with lube on their faces. Needless to say, the brand may be taking a break, but it won't be forgotten anytime soon.
