Honoring Veterans: The Heartfelt Mission of Permian Basin Honor Flight

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Permian Basin Honor Flight has been awarded $300 in the KLST Pay it Forward Campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech. We turn our attention to an organization dedicated to serving veterans across the Concho Valley and Permian Basin.

Recently, our team had the privilege of sitting down with David Miller and other volunteers from the Permian Basin Honor Flight, who graciously shared insights into their impactful work. David, a 25-year Air Force veteran, along with his wife, has been involved with the honor flight for just over a year.

Reflecting on their recent mission to Washington DC, where they escorted 70 veterans to visit memorials and monuments dedicated to their service, David highlighted the profound significance of these journeys.

“It’s about giving veterans the welcome home they deserve, especially those who didn’t receive it, like many Vietnam veterans,” David emphasized. “It’s incredibly important for their healing process.”

David shared the heartfelt story of his father, initially hesitant to join an honor but ultimately moved by the experience. ” Every veteran deserves this trip, regardless of their service history,” David says “It’s for you, and it’s an experience that can truly make a difference.”

If you know someone who deserves a little help from the KLST Pay it Forward Campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech, keep a lookout for Senora Scott — she’ll be holding the “KLST Pay it Forward” sign — and let her know why that person should get that week’s award.
