Honor Flight #49 takes Kern County veterans on a ‘trip of a lifetime’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Honor Flight Kern County number 49 is in our Nation’s capitol today, with more than 100 local veterans visiting the monuments built in their honor.

17’s Kevin Charette is chronicling the groups trip on what’s been called “the trip of a lifetime.”

“Well, it’s pride, a lot of pride in that, you know. And it’s something that I wish that every tribal member out there in the United States has the opportunity to come here and visit,” Vietnam Veteran Ben Charley Jr. said.

Honor Flight 49 will come to an end Wednesday.

Until then, the group will visit the Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial, Vietnam Memorial before heading back to Bakersfield on Wednesday night.
