Honda donates to library's Summer Reading Program

May 22—GREENSBURG — The Greensburg Decatur County Public Library has received a $10,000 contribution from Honda for its 2024 summer reading program, "Adventure Begins at Your Library."

The eight-week program encourages kids to read over the summer so they are prepared for school when it begins again in August. The library is also providing many fun, educational programs throughout the summer to spark an interest in STEAM, ranging from crafts to science and art workshops.

"This support from Honda will enable the Greensburg Decatur County Public Library to bring special programs from the Cincinnati Museum Center, and the Kids Discovery Factory to Greensburg. Performers like My Nose Turns Red and Silly Safari's Live Animal Show promise to make this a fun and exciting summer for kids of all ages! Because of Honda's support and generosity, all these programs are being provided for free to our community," said Amy Swihart, the library's Youth Services manager.

The Silly Safaris Live Animal Show will be presented at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Rebekah Park on Greensburg's east side. This is a family-friendly program; children must be accompanied by an adult. It is suggested attendees bring a chair or blanket as seating is not provided.
