Arrest made after man found stabbed to death in Elliott

Police have made an arrest after a man was found stabbed to death near the front of a home in Pittsburgh’s Elliott neighborhood.

Dominic Johnson, 19, was taken into custody and placed in the Allegheny County Jail, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Detectives were called to the 100 block of Steuben Street at 11:53 a.m. Thursday for a man who was found unresponsive outside of a vacant home.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Marc Kovach, 37, of Pittsburgh.

Public Safety Officials said detectives found Kovach near the front of the home and down some steps that were not visible from the street.

“I was at my house and saw cops and homicide detectives,” said Brent Newman. “It’s quiet in this part of the West End.”

Police said he had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson is charged with criminal homicide and tampering with evidence.
