Homeland Security investigation ongoing at two NEPA malls

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The search is on for answers surrounding a pair of sports apparel store raids in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.

Homeland Security has confirmed that they are conducting a law enforcement operation involving a store called sports fever in the Viewmont and Wyoming Valley Malls.

28/22 News was the only station there when Homeland Security raided a store inside the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City, hauling out dozens of boxes marked evidence from a store called Sports Fever.

Nearly 20 arrest warrants issued in Luzerne County drug sweep

The Viewmont Mall has released a statement from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) regarding the inviestgation;

On May 22, Viewmont Mall was advised of an investigation that involved a tenant.

Mall Management is fully cooperating with local and federal law enforcement as they pursue the investigation in the hopes of prompt resolution, as the experience of our visitors, employees, and surrounding tenants is our highest priority.

28/22 News cameras caught exclusive video of dozens of Homeland Security boxes marked evidence being brought out of the mall and loaded into a truck outside of the Viewmont Mall.

We are still trying to learn what exactly Homeland Security is looking for, and if any arrests have been made. As of now agents are only saying that the inveistgation is ongoing.
