Home Depot Just Pulled This Terrifying Halloween Decoration From Shelves

From Good Housekeeping

A Home Depot in Canada has just pulled a horrifying Halloween decoration from shelves after customers in an Ontario store complained, according to CBC News.

The "Scary Peeper Creeper" decoration was designed to look like a man in a hooded sweatshirt is peering into your window, and customers are saying it makes light of preying and voyeurism - two very real crimes.

It started when mother and teacher Breanne Hunt-Wells she came across the decoration and was appalled, telling CBC that it is "inappropriate and makes light of a real-life, sinister issue that women face in our society." Adding that "peeping" is not a crime that should be taken lightly.

After CBC got in touch with the store, it responded appropriately, and apologized for offending customers. "We agree that this is not in line with our core values, and when we heard, took immediate action and are currently in the process of removing this product from our assortment," Home Depot spokeswoman Emily DiCarlo told CBC.

You can still purchase the "Scary Peeper Creeper" on Home Depot's website and at certain U.S. stores, for $29.98. It's designed to suction on to the inside or outside of your window, and in the product description says, "Realistic face looks just like a real man is peering through the window at you."

No thanks.

If you're not a fan of creeper peepers either, there are plenty of other ways to spruce up your home for trick-or-treaters this Halloween, without implying that a disturbing man is preying on your children. Need some ideas? Check out one of these enchanting Halloween decorating ideas.
