Holocaust remembered in Israel and Poland

Israel and Poland are among the countries paying respects to the memory of the 6 million Jews killed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators during World War II.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the official ceremony at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem.

On Thursday, Israelis paused from their daily routines to remember the dead. A siren sounded, pedestrians stopped in their tracks and motorists pulled over on highways and roads to as a mournful, two-minute standstill
