Former Hollyoaks star Ross Adams has shared a positive message to all fellow actors struggling with the uncertainty of finding work.

The soap star has recently jumped ship, leaving Hollyoaks and the role of Scott Drinkwell in his rearview mirror to join a murder mystery series set on a cruise liner.

Adams will appear on the second season of Channel 5 show The Good Ship Murder as new character Colin Smallwood.

Celebrating his new acting gig, the actor took to Instagram to share a reflection on taking a leap and encourage all his actor friends to stay positive — a message that resonates even more as some of the Hollyoaks cast will see their roles cut due to the soap scaling down from five to three episodes per week.

"Leaving Hollyoaks and the security of a regular job felt really scary. So many talented friends of mine who work in TV are out of work, or soon will be," Adams wrote on Instagram yesterday (April 25).

"The TV landscape is changing rapidly and it's a worrying time - so I didn't know whether to post this news.

The actor said he's "delighted" to be joining The Good Ship Murder, and "can't wait" for fans to meet his character Colin.

He concluded: "And to my actor and freelancer friends who don't know what's next… Stay positive. Stay kind. Stay creative. You never know what's around the corner…"

Adams had previously spoken on his Hollyoaks exit announcement, saying: "Now feels like the right time for me to try some other things that I've been super keen to do. I really hope you'll all come with me for the ride!"

The Good Ship Murder airs on Channel 5. Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
