Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Wednesday.

Marie Fielding has been arrested in new Hollyoaks scenes, following her son Abe's shocking scheme.

In tonight's (March 26) first-look instalment of the soap, Marie was overjoyed when the new private investigator she hired discovered some CCTV images of her missing son Arlo in Dublin.

However, joy soon turned into shock when it was revealed that the previous private investigator had also traced Arlo to Dublin, but Abe told him not to follow the lead.

Claiming it was because the images were too blurry to be certain it was Arlo, Abe was forgiven. But an image of someone else in the picture with his back to the camera had him looking worried.

Marie was then accompanied by Abe to the station to hand in the photos, where she was told to leave the investigation to the police due to her previous criminal record.

"Can I just remind you that you're still on probation?" the detective told her. "If you're charged with anything else, then it's straight back to jail."

Back at the house, Abe found sedatives in Marie's suitcase and called the police anonymously to inform them that he knew who was responsible for Arlo's disappearance.

Marie was later stopped by the police before she could leave for Dublin, and was left shocked when they revealed that they had an anonymous tip saying she had used sedatives to drug Arlo.

Wanting to ensure that his mum wouldn't be able to talk herself out of the accusation and set off for Dublin, Abe pretended to accidentally knock over her handbag, revealing the boxes of sedatives. As a result, Marie was arrested on suspicion of poisoning Arlo.

Elsewhere in the episode, a flustered Kitty had her first day working at the hospital. Although Sharon told her she was extremely impressed with the cover letter, she later transferred Kitty to the paediatric department after she was unable to answer questions about the human heart.

Meanwhile, Dillon was confused when he walked in on Carter taking pictures of Lucas with a bible, with the pair stating it was for a new website advertising the Special Behavioural Unit. Knowing his feelings are too strong for Lucas, Dillon broke things off with Freya.
