'We're in a state of chaos': Travellers in Canada left stranded for hours in planes, at airports as snow storms wreak havoc
From coast to coast, travellers are stranded and facing delays due to intense snowstorms
Earlier this week, a major snowstorm buried Vancouver in snow, causing many Canadian airports to delay and cancel flights.
Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning on Sunday, announcing several centimetres of snowfall in Metro Vancouver. On top of chilling cold temperatures, the Lower Mainland experienced twice the forecasted snow – with 30 cm in downtown Vancouver and 27 cm at the airport.
Many frustrated passengers hoping to finish their holiday travels this week were left stranded at the Vancouver International Airport or in the aircrafts.
A passenger wrote on Tik Tok, “If you’re flying to YVR, maybe rethink checking in a bag. We landed at 11 p.m., and by 4 a.m., we still hadn’t seen our bags.”
Many YVR employees advised passengers to go home.

Other passengers documented their airport nightmares, including flight delays, cancellations, and missing luggage. Some were also left stuck in the aircrafts for hours.
In the most Canadian ass move ever, the Vancouver airport has run out of plane de-icer and we’ve been sitting in a plan on the tarmac for over an hour while a guy hits ice on the plane with a broom

Environment Canada issued a threatening winter storm warning in Toronto, starting Friday until Saturday. Conditions will include freezing rain, snow, and flash freeze and airports have already warned that there will be a backlog.
“Travel will become hazardous,” Environment Canada wrote in the warning alert.
