The Hitchhikers coming to Friedens Lutheran Church coffeehouse

FRIEDENS ― Friedens Lutheran Church will host another coffeehouse from 7-9 p.m. March 22 in Friendship Hall at the church. Entertainment will be provided by The Hitchhikers.

The Hitchhikers were formed in 2006 as a side project for native Somerset musicians Bradley Rhea and Dean Shumaker. By 2008, they were playing more than 75 shows per year, and made a name for themselves as the house band at The Headkeeper in Greensburg.

Following the death of Shumaker in 2014, Rhea decided to carry on his legacy, with friends of Shumaker's filling the void. Bob "Crafty" Crafton, TK Mundok and Joshua Ben were all talented friends of Shumaker's, who helped "The Hitchhikers" name to continue as a tribute to Shumaker.

In 2024, The Hitchhikers continue to play 50-75 shows per year, featuring founding member Bradley Rhea on guitar and vocals, and longtime collaborator Joshua Ben on piano and vocals. They specialize in classic rock, classic country, blues and jazz, playing great songs you just don't hear too often.

Refreshments will be provided and donations will be accepted at the door.
