Hit-and-run kills 1, injures another in Whitehaven

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead and another is injured after a hit-and-run in Whitehaven Thursday evening.

Memphis Police responded to a crash at Winchester Road and Elvis Presley Boulevard at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

Police say a pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. Another person was reportedly taken to Methodist South. Memphis Police did not provide that victim’s condition.

Memphis Police say the vehicle involved fled the scene. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Today's news comes just a few weeks after U.K.-based Wayve raised more than $1 billion from high-profile companies including SoftBank, Nvidia, and Microsoft to continue developing a self-learning software system for autonomous vehicles.

Bumble buys community building app Geneva to expand further into friendships
Dating app maker Bumble has acquired Geneva, an online platform built around forming real-world groups and clubs. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the announcement comes shortly after Bumble revealed that it would be pursuing acquisitions to drive growth, with CEO Lidiane Jones (who joined Bumble from Slack last year) noting on a recent earnings call that the company would consider the "value add" of an acquisition and how it might align with its own business goals.
