ASHEVILLE - An extensive renovation project to breathe new life into a historic landmark is concluding in downtown Asheville. This spring, a new adaptive reuse boutique hotel occupying the site will welcome its first guests.

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, a Southeast regional company, has opened its reservation system for overnight guests at its latest development, The Flat Iron Hotel.

The Flat Iron Hotel, located at 20 Battery Park Ave., inhabits the Flat Iron building, constructed in 1926. Rowhouse is the property’s architect and Mey & Co. is the designer for The Flat Iron Hotel.

Guests may now book an overnight stay for any of its 71-guest rooms and six suites for as early as April 26.

“We’re counting down the days until we’re able to open the doors to visitors and the local community,” Jeff Elstro, general manager of The Flat Iron Hotel, said in a news release. “The opening of reservations is a huge milestone as we get one step closer to bringing the Flat Iron building back to life for the community and our guests.”

The Flat Iron Hotel’s other on-site amenities and programming will include a café and flexible meeting and event space. Iron Works will offer co-working space with podcast recording capabilities for hotel guests and locals. Visitors also may stop in for live music performed by local jazz and bluegrass bands and rotating custom local brews on tap.

Much of The Flat Iron building’s Art Deco era design elements and original structure were preserved, and rooms were designed with a modern touch, according to the hospitality group. Noted features are the historic “doors and preserved transom windows and classic prewar bathrooms, which are paired with colorful, custom furniture and hand drawn wallcoverings that reflect the opulence of the era in which the building originally thrived.”
