Hinkley man killed in Hesperia wreck

A 67-year-old Hinkley man died following a three-vehicle collision in Hesperia on Monday night, authorities said.

The collision was first reported about 10:35 p.m. on Mariposa Road near Boxwood Avenue, fire department logs show. Hector Gagliardi died at a hospital following the wreck, according to San Bernardino County coroner's officials.

Gagliardi was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck north when, "for unknown reasons, the driver crossed from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes of Mariposa Road, sideswiping a silver Toyota Yaris," Hesperia Police Department spokeswoman Amanda Paslak said.

Following the initial collision, the truck continued moving and collided head-on into a Hyundai Tucson SUV, she said.

The driver and a passenger from the Hyundai were hospitalized with major injuries, Paslak said. The driver of the Toyota was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the collision was being investigated by deputies assigned to the Hesperia Police Department.
