Hillsboro shop fire leaves dog hospitalized, 1 evaluated for injuries

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A dog was hospitalized and one person needed injury evaluation after a shop fire in downtown Hillsboro late Friday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m., Hillsboro Fire & Rescue crews responded to the area of Northwest Garibaldi Street and Freeman Ave on report of the blaze.

Officials say crews were able to quickly knock down the fire.

A person who was in the shop at the time of the fire needed to be looked over for injuries by emergency responders, authorities say.

Additionally, a dog was treated on scene with oxygen and taken to a nearby veterinary hospital.

No further information has been released at this time.
