After her loss in the presidential election in November, Hillary Clinton has been lying low. She’s been spotted by supporters a few times, but has not ventured into the public eye much in the past few months. But last night, Bill and Hillary Clinton attended The Color Purple on Broadway, and the audience had the sweetest reaction.

It’s easy to see why the Hillary was welcomed with open arms by this community. After all, she trail-blazed in a massive way during the 2016 election. She made history as the first woman to win a major party’s nomination for president, and she won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. Thus, Hillary continues to be an icon for many of her supporters, so when she makes a public appearance, people get excited.

Hillary Clinton got not just one, but THREE standing ovations from the audience at The Color Purple.

That’s right, everyone was SO excited to see Hillary at the theater, and we don’t blame them. According to The Washington Post, people were cheering while they all angled to get a glimpse of the former Democratic presidential nominee.

Sunday’s performance was the last performance of The Color Purple, which won two Tony Awards, including Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo. So naturally, Hillary had to see the award-winning show before it closes.

Hillary looked like she was in fabulous spirits on her way into the show.

And she looked lovely in this bright floral tunic.

After the show, Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea met star Cynthia Erivo backstage to congratulate her.

And long-time Hillary supporters, Broadway lovers, and BFFs, Mariska Hargitay and Debra Messing were in the audience as well.

Overall, it looked like a fabulous way to celebrate both an awesome Broadway show and an inspiring woman. We hope Hillary had as much fun at the show as all her supporters had seeing her in person.
