Hillary Clinton is the latest Democrat to troll South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) after she detailed in a forthcoming book how she shot her dog.

“Still true,” Clinton wrote Monday on the social platform X above a 2021 post that read, “Don’t vote for anyone you wouldn’t trust with your dog.”

Noem, who has been discussed as a possible running mate for former President Trump, has come under fire in recent days after The Guardian reported on an excerpt from her book that detailed how she shot “Cricket,” her nearly 14-month-old dog.

Noem shot the wirehaired pointer in a gravel ditch on her property after taking it pheasant hunting. She said in the book that she “hated” the dog, saying it was also responsible for attacking a neighbor’s chickens and trying to bite her.

She also described — immediately after killing Cricket — shooting and killing a “nasty and mean” male goat that smelled and liked to chase her children.

Democrats have slammed Noem for killing the dog. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) last week dubbed itself as the “Dogmocratic Party.”

“As DNC’s canine companions, we’ve heard a lot from our owners about just how extreme and dangerous Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA allies are — but nothing could prepare us for the truly disturbing and horrifying passages Kristi Noem willingly chose to put in her new book,” the statement said.

Noem responded to the criticism and defended her actions in a statement posted Sunday on X. She said sharing the story shows her constituents that she is “authentic, willing to learn from the past, and [doesn’t] shy away from tough challenges.”

“I can understand why some people are upset about a 20 year old story of Cricket, one of the working dogs at our ranch, in my upcoming book — No Going Back,” Noem wrote in the post. “The book is filled with many honest stories of my life, good and bad days, challenges, painful decisions, and lessons learned.”
