Hillary Clinton says Trump lacks 'empathy' in wake of NYC terrorist attack

Hillary Rodham Clinton visited The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, where she critiqued President Trump’s response to the Oct. 31 New York City terrorist attack.

Having served as first lady during the Oklahoma City bombing, as a New York senator on 9/11, and secretary of state during numerous tragedies, Clinton is fairly qualified to share her opinion on dealing with terrorist attacks.

Clinton said, “What you want is a president … to bring the country together, talk about what happened with the event that they are concerned about, but not to point fingers, not to scapegoat, not to try to set Americans against each other. And, unfortunately, that is just not part of the job that our current president accepts or is willing to perform.”

Clinton went on to chastise Trump for using the tragic event to promote divisive legislation at a time when Americans need to come together. She said, “He just doesn’t have any empathy. And you can disagree with somebody over all kinds of partisan issues, but you want to have a president who can try to put himself into the shoes, the feelings, of somebody else. And he has not been able to do that.”

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central.
