Hillary Clinton is rooting for Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy at the 2018 Winter Olympics

As someone who has dedicated decades of her life to public service, perhaps it comes as no surprise that Hillary Rodham Clinton loves the Olympic Games.

And while she'll be rooting for the United States in all events, she's particularly excited to see Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy in Pyeongchang.

"I'm going watch as much as I can see," she said at the 2018 MAKERS Conference. "I love the Winter Olympics. I love the athleticism and the stories of our athletes, and I'm excited that Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy will be the first openly gay Olympians. So I'm going to be there cheering them on."

Never one to shy away from conveying broader impact, she added:

"Let's cheer our Olympians on, and let's take that Olympic spirit of bringing people together and fight for what we know is right," she said.

As openly gay men, Rippon and Kenworthy have both publicly criticized Vice President Mike Pence for his record with LGBT issues. The former has gone so far as refusing to meet with the vice president while at the Games.

"I would absolutely not go out of my way to meet somebody who I felt has gone out of their way to not only show that they aren't a friend of a gay person but that they think that they’re sick," Rippon told USA Today.

Kenworthy said on 'Ellen' that it "seems like a bad fit" to have someone who has "directly attacked the LGBT community" leading the Olympic delegation.

The vice president and second lady are scheduled to arrive in Japan ahead of the Olympics on Friday. Pence will be bringing Otto Warmbier's father, Fred, as his guest to the Games in Pyeongchang.
