Hilary Duff's Daughter Cries Over Her Valentine's Day Rose from Dad Matthew Koma: 'Wrong Color'

A rose by any other color might’ve been more sweet for Hilary Duff‘s 3-month-old daughter Banks Violet.

On the singer and Younger star’s Instagram Story Thursday night, she revealed to her followers that boyfriend Matthew Koma had gotten their daughter a light-pink rose for her first Valentine’s Day.

But the hope of putting a smile on baby Banks’ face quickly faded after her parents presented her with the pretty bloom.

“It was the wrong color,” joked Duff, 31, in text on top of the final, honest snapshot, which depicted the infant letting out a wail as the rose lay next to her.

Duff has been candid in the past about Banks’ colic, revealing the baby girl’s (and her parents’) struggle with the condition in an Instagram post the former Lizzie McGuire star shared last month, asking for advice.

“Calling all parents of colic babies … this ends right?” Duff captioned a selfie in which she was holding her daughter, dressed in a red-patterned onesie, on her shoulder.

Colic affects up to 40 percent of babies, according to the National Institutes of Health. It’s defined as any healthy baby who cries more than three hours a day for more than three days a week, for longer than three weeks.

“Can you ever set them down with out them screaming OR waking up? We have read everything the internet has to offer … nothing besides nursing basically every hour or less helps!” the actress continued. “We have done all the obvious things … please leave magic tricks in comments.”

Luckily, Duff and Koma, 31, have figured out a successful way to get more Zs at night: by hiring a sleep-training specialist.

“We have a sleeping baby!” Duff wrote on Instagram earlier this month, sharing a photo of herself, Banks and Kimberly Von Slomski, the postpartum doula and founder of Sweet Dreams LA. (Von Slomski’s talents were also used by Ali Fedotowsky-Manno to help sleep train her son Riley Doran, now 8 months.)

“Baby whisperer/ genius/ brilliant /calm and loving Kimberly (actually baby care specialist and postpartum doula) ( @sweetdreams.la ) spent this rainy weekend with us and got our sweet girl sleeping!” she continued. “I honestly didn’t remember what good sleep felt like! Pretty delicious!”
