Hiker stuck on ledge in Colorado national park

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) — Rescuers Wednesday reached a 19-year-old Canadian hiker who was stuck on a ledge of the tallest mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Park officials said rescuers were moving down the mountain with the hiker and planned to airlift him out, weather and conditions permitting.

Samuel Frappier of Quebec was stranded Tuesday on the east side of Longs Peak while descending from the top of the 14,255-foot precipice.

He spent the night on the mountain and was able to reach rescuers by cellphone.
