Soldiers in an Army National Guard convoy were involved in a serious three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in West Chester Wednesday, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Around 11 a.m., a 21-year-old Reynoldsburg woman was driving a U.S. Army military vehicle (Humvee) south on I-75 with two passengers just before the Interstate 275 exit. All three occupants were soldiers involved in an Army National Guard convoy, a highway patrol spokesperson told The Enquirer.

The driver struck the side of a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer combination, operated by a 46-year-old man from Forest, while changing into the exit lane, the release stated.

After striking the Freightliner, the Humvee traveled to the right middle lane and struck a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer combination, operated by a 64-year-old man from Cincinnati. The Humvee then traveled off the right side of the highway and overturned into a nearby tree line.

One of the Humvee passengers, a 41-year-old Dayton man, was ejected from the vehicle and transported via ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Humvee driver and the other passenger, a 21-year-old Toledo man, were transported via ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Freightliner and Peterbilt drivers were not injured in the crash.

The crash partially closed I-75 southbound for roughly four hours, tweets from the Ohio Department of Transportation show.

The Hamilton Post will continue to investigate this crash.
