HIGHLIGHTS: No. 11 Rams split doubleheader against Lubbock Christian

SAN ANGELO, TX— The 11th-ranked Angelo State baseball team split Saturday’s doubleheader against Lubbock Christian, losing the first game 10-5 but bouncing back to secure a 10-3 victory in game two.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Rams scored four runs to seize the lead. The scoring sequence began with an error, followed by a double by Conagher Sands, driving in Jacob Guerrero. Tayten Tredaway then brought in a run with a groundout, followed by an RBI single from Kamden Kelton.

Alezeah Gutierrez, starting on the mound for the Rams, incurred the loss, bringing his season record to 5-3. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits while recording eight strikeouts.

In game two, Lubbock Christian opened the first inning with the lead scoring on a double down the left field line.

Angelo State responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. ASU’s scoring momentum carried into the second inning, adding another run on a wild pitch before consecutive RBI doubles from Jacob Guerrero and Tripp Clark extending the lead 6-1.

Dax Dathe pitched six and two-thirds innings for the Rams, tallying 12 strikeouts while conceding only two runs on five hits.

Angelo State will close out the series against the Chaps tomorrow at 1 p.m.
