High stakes in Virginia’s gubernatorial race

Did you know that Virginia is the only state that prohibits its governor from serving consecutive terms by law? It’s been that way since 1776. On Tuesday, Nov. 7, Virginians will head to the polls to elect a new governor to replace Democrat Terry McAuliffe. The frontrunners are Republican Ed Gillespie and Democrat Ralph Northam, and the new governor will have a say in the state’s congressional redistricting.
