High-speed chase and crash in Jeff Davis Parish puts 2 in hospital

JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) — Two people were hospitalized Saturday after a high-speed chase led by a stolen car ended with a crash in Jeff Davis Parish, authorities said.

According to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted Saturday by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office of a stolen green Dodge Charger westbound on I-10. JPSO said deputies observed the vehicle traveling at a high speed and began pursuit. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle fled.

After several miles of pursuit, the vehicle was successfully spiked on La. 102 near La. 26. The vehicle continued on westbound La. 102 crossing La. 26 airborne over the roadway, then crashed into two parked vehicles near Hathaway High School.

Both occupants were taken to the hospital and remain hospitalized, authorities said. Their names or conditions were not released.

Louisiana State Police assisted in the crash investigation. Charges are pending on both the driver and passenger.
