High school student uses Twitter to land porn star prom date, school objects

As first mentioned on ABC News, an 18-year-old Minnesota teenager named Mike Stone used his personal Twitter account to fire off approximately 600 tweets to porn stars asking if they would attend his high school prom at Tartan High School in Oakdale, MN. Stone’s typical request asked each porn star if they were “booked up on May 12” and promised “dinner, hotel and a personal massage” after the prom ended if the porn star responded to his initial tweet.

One porn star, 19-year old Megan Piper, responded in the affirmative to his request and stated “I can make this kid’s dream prom experience come true and get a chance to go to prom. It was a win for both of us.” in the interview with ABC News. Piper didn’t get a chance to attend her prom after her family moved to another state before the yearly event occurred at her high school

Stone had turned to Twitter to get a date for the prom after several girls at his high school had turned him down. His mother, Diven Stone, described herself as being upset with the situation at first, but now supports the planned date. Also over Twitter, an adult website offered to pay for the entire event including the cost of a limo, restaurant and hotel suite. Stone is offering to pay for Piper’s airfare from Los Angeles, California, but has also been approached by a travel agency to cover the cost. Stone is also having success raising the money for the transportation costs with random people contributing through the Internet.

Stone, described by his mother as having special needs, stated in an interview with the Pioneer Press that he has never been on a date before. After the news broke on the national stage regarding the prom date, Stone’s notoriety at the high school skyrocketed. According to Stone, he stated “They chanted my name in the hallways: Mike! Mike! Mike! They called me a legend. I have never been called that before.“

When the school administration heard about the planned date between Stone and Piper, they subsequently banned her from attending the prom. Detailed in a public statement, school administrators stated “Megan Piper’s attendance would be prohibited under Tartan’s standard prom procedures and would be inconsistent with two school district policies. Those policies, among other things, refer to keeping the school safe from ‘activity that may be disruptive.’“

After the school issued the banishment, Stone’s mother stated “It’s not like they’re going to have sex there or make a movie. I bet if his date were someone like Mariah Carey, though, they would have paid to fly her here.” Students at Tartan High School are discussing the creation of a petition regarding Piper’s attendance in addition to making T-shirts to support Stone’s date.

Both Stone and Piper are now attempting to locate an alternate party venue near the main prom being held at the Landmark Center in St. Paul and hope to invite all the students attending Tartan High School to their party. Piper is also attempting to lobby Ellen DeGeneres over Twitter to both have her on the Ellen Show in addition to hosting the alternative prom.
