High-rise development planned near FedExForum

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A high-rise development with a luxury hotel and condominiums, plus retail and restaurants, is planned across the street from the FedExForum in downtown Memphis.

An application for the project was submitted Wednesday to the Land Use Control Board by Blue Note Hotel Group LLC and A2H Architects.

According to the application, the project would build 175 hotel rooms in a 15-story tower on the southeast corner of Martin Luther King Avenue and Fourth Street. The architect’s drawings show a Hilton Tapestry logo on the building.

Next door, an eight-story building would contain 60 apartment units. A multilevel parking deck is also part of the plans.

The site, currently a parking lot, sits one block south of Beale Street.
