High Point woman charged in fatal wreck

Feb. 2—GREENSBORO — A High Point woman has been charged in a wreck in Greensboro that killed a Reidsville woman.

Amy Barber, 47, was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass on the ramp from S. Elm-Eugene Street to the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 about 4 p.m. Thursday when she ran into the rear of a 1994 Mercedes-Benz C280 driven by Erika McNeal, 37, the Greensboro Police Department said.

McNeal's car went off the road to the right and wrecked. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died of her injuries.

Barber had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Barber was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
