In the 5-second resurfaced clip, Jessie unlatched the partition in her LG front loader washing machine exposing the built-up brown residue.

“Just found out you can take out this piece in your washing machine,” the text overlay read.

She uncovered the hack from another TikToker and decided to try it herself.

Disgusted by her discovery, Jessie used a puking audio snippet underneath the viral clip with over 19.5 million views.

Many TikTokers wished they had scrolled past the washing machine clip instead of witnessing the gross reveal.

“No absolutely not. Put it back. MY CLEANING LIST IS ALREADY LONG,” one person chimed in.

“Please no not another thing I have to clean,” begged another.

“After seeing this I shall not be removing mine,” confessed a watcher.

Meanwhile, some clean freaks can’t figure out how to remove the compartment.

“How do you do that? Mine won’t come off? You have to just pull hard?” they questioned.

“[It] must be just certain models [because] mine won’t budge,” a viewer sighed with relief.

In a follow-up video series, Jessie demonstrated how to remove and clean the built-up fabric softener in the device.

“To remove the piece I used a screwdriver to undo the screw on top,” she said. “Then I slid the piece towards me and pulled upwards and it came right off.”

Once it was detached, she cleaned the compartment by removing the thick chunks of dirt with a skewer, spraying Dawn Power wash on it, and pouring boiling hot water to let it stick for 10 minutes. Jessie rinsed the parts off and continued scrubbing away at the gunk with the cleaning spray.

She also cleaned the inside of the washing machine to which the compartment was attached, eliminating all the existing dirt.

A few viewers suggested ways to avoid this gunk infestation from happening again.

“[Two] dishwasher tablets a cup of vinegar and a 90 degree wash once a month. Will stop this from happening,” wrote one person.

“Run a clean washer/Tub Clean cycle with a cup of citric acid,” added another. “Also, run a Sanitize cycle with whites or towels once a month. This won’t be an issue.”
