That’s what will happen during the regular season, as the perennial laughing-stock NFC South division will feature at least three quality teams, and the Saints will not be the lone team looking up.

After a strong offseason for a team that had limited cap space, coupled with one of the strongest drafts in Chicago, this team is more than ready to take the charge and compete for the NFC South, after letting it slip away in 2013 and 2014.

There will no longer be the Panthers bullying the Saints, with the former taking four of the last five meetings. With Josh Norman out in Carolina, and Coby Fleener and Michael Thomas joining New Orleans, Drew Brees and co. will have no problem putting up 30 points against their defense.

MVP Cam Newton won’t have his way that easily against a revamped defense that added three more studs at the pass-rushing area: James Laurinaits and Nick Fairley in free agency, plus hyped-up rookie Sheldon Rankins.

The Atlanta Falcons promise to be dangerous, and it’s impossible to overlook the new additions of Alex Mack, Mohamed Sanu, Derrick Shelby and Sean Weatherspoon. But the Saints have OWNED Atlanta, taking four of the last six overall meetings.

You probably won’t find a lot of experts come September who will pick the Saints to make the playoffs, but Drew Brees and Sean Payton led their team to the playoffs in 2006 and won Super Bowl 44, when nobody believed in them.

They’re up for the challenge once again in 2016.
