A 35-year-old Hesperia man was found with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot after sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun at one residence.

The Hesperia Sheriff’s Station stated that at approximately 10:32 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to the call in the 15000 block of Orange Street.

The area is located south of Main Street and between Cottonwood and Hickory avenues.

The reporting party told sheriff’s officials that Jaime Flores was armed with a gun and had assaulted another house occupant.

The occupants had fled the home while Flores remained in residence and refused to come out, sheriff’s officials reported.

Deputies with the Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division responded to assist. A warrant was issued for Flores’ arrest, and a search warrant was issued for his residence.

After several hours of not receiving a response from inside the residence, SED personnel forced entry into the home and located Flores suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the location, sheriff’s officials said.

Detectives with the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division are conducting the investigation. An autopsy will be shown as part of the ongoing investigation.
