Hero Denver Cop Daily-Drives a RHD Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R

From Road & Track

Cops have a difficult and dangerous job, but most of the time we see them, it's because we're in trouble. It isn't exactly fun, but we usually know when we're driving too fast. We were just hoping not to get caught. But if you're in Denver, you'll probably love seeing Officer Matt pull up behind you in his black-and-white-a legally-imported, right-hand-drive R32 Skyline GT-R with an R34 nose.

Officer Matt says he's been working on cars since he was 13, and while he started out interested in muscle cars, he soon got into the import scene, building a twin-turbo Dodge Stealth R/T making 444 horsepower at the wheels that he showed and autocrossed.

After being deployed to Afghanistan with his Army Reserve unit in 2011, Matt decided he wanted a new Nissan GT-R. Prices never got low enough for him to afford one of those, though, so he went with the next-best option-importing a 1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R.

But's not just any R32. It's the very first R32 legally brought in from Canada-it rolled across the border one minute after it became legal to do so.

Currently, it's got a few R34 parts on it, but it's still mostly stock. With the 310 horsepower it's putting to the wheels, it's definitely not slow, but Matt says he'd like to get that up to 500 or 550. According to him, that's "a nice, happy medium for a daily driver."

Like we said, this guy is a hero.
