The past week saw some serious Instagram highs and lows.

Though the week began on a solemn note with touching tributes to honor the passing of Star Trek actor, Anton Yelchin, as the days went on there was a great deal to celebrate.

Instagram reached a major milestone, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Finals, Michelle Obama announced some exciting news and YouTube took an important stand.

Here are ten of the most memorable Instagram posts of the week:

1. Remembering Anton Yelchin

27-year-old actor, Anton Yelchin, was killed last Sunday after an extremely unfortunate mishap with his own vehicle.

Yelchin was a rising star best known for his role as Chekov in the new Star Trek films. He also starred in beloved films such as Like Crazy and Charlie Bartlett.

In addition to Yelchin’s fans, many fellow celebrities who had the pleasure of knowing or working with him — including director, J.J. Abrams — shared touching tributes to the actor on social media.

Yelchin’s Charlie Bartlett co-star, Kat Dennings expressed her grief on Twitter with several precious photos on Instagram captioned, “Best pal. I got nothing” and “I miss you.”

You will be deeply missed, Anton.

2. NBA Championships

Two years ago, upon returning "home" to the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent, LeBron James vowed to help deliver the team their first-ever NBA championship title.

On Sunday, the legendary basketball player successfully accomplished his goal, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 93-89 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

After he ended Cleveland’s 52-year championship drought and was named MVP for the third time, James posted a celebratory photograph and video of himself hugging and kissing the Championship trophy.

Congrats, King James.

3. Michelle Obama

The First Lady is making history.

Michelle Obama announced (via a flawless black and white selfie) that she would be joining Snapchat.

She posted her Snapchat name: MichelleObama💁🏽  and took several snaps to let us know she would be appearing on an episode of James Corden’s beloved Carpool Karaoke, which will undoubtedly be one of the best episodes ever.

Be sure to add her ASAP, and in case you were wondering, her Snapchat avatar is one of the most flawless things you will ever lay eyes on.

4.  Instagram’s Milestone

On Tuesday, Instagram achieved a glorious milestone after reaching 500 million users — more than 300 million of whom use the app every single day.

The app’s official account shared a special video of their new logo being formed by people, captioned, “Today we have 500 million reasons to celebrate, and you’re one of them. Thank you from all of us at Instagram.”

Mark Zuckerberg also congratulated the vision of Instagram founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, on the platform.

As Zuckerberg said, “Thanks for making Instagram such a beautiful place.”

5. YouTube's Initiative

This Pride Month, YouTube is celebrating people throughout the LGBTQ community and around the globe with a new video initiative called #ProudToBe.

Their kick-off video for the initiative featured several well-known YouTubers such as Gigi Gorgeous, Tyler Oakley, Kat Blaque and Tre Melvin and debuted a beautifully redesigned rainbow YouTube logo.

The official YouTube Instagram account shared a picture of the logo with the caption, “✅ Pride ✅ Acceptance ✅ Kindness ✅ Love 🌈 Celebrate who you're #ProudToBe.”

6. Hilary Duff

Over the years, we’ve watched one of our favorite Disney Channel stars become one of our favorite celebrity moms.

Though Duff adores spending time with her son, Luca, like all working parents, she has to balance her career life and home life.

Over the weekend, Hilary posted a photo of her son, captioned with an inspirational shout-out to working moms.

The actress wrote, “No words to describe how much I miss him💔 😢 to all you hard working moms out there working tirelessly to support your kids .... Missing them .... Keep kicking ass, your kids are watching and will thank you someday. #tryingtokeepmymindright”

Beautifully put, Hilary.

7. Drake's Getaway

On Monday, Drake posted a rare series of photographs featuring himself straight up chilling in the Dominican Republic in a very interesting robe.

As it turns out, Drake made the trip for work — to shoot a video with French Montana for his track, "No Shopping."

Here’s hoping this new music video alert will give us a chance to see more of Drake living it up in that infinity pool and working his stunning robe.

8. Chrissy Teigen

Much like Hilary Duff, the delightful Chrissy Teigen continues to completely own her role as a mom.

From eliminating social media trolls to defending her right to have both a child and a social life, the model has always kept it real. When Teigen went to Disneyland on Friday, June 17, with her husband and friends, things were no different.

Chrissy graced Instagram with a photo which perfectly highlighted a new mom struggle. Teigen is shown protecting her precious breast milk on Splash Mountain, like a true champ.

Please never change, Chrissy.

9. Ben and Lauren's Spinoff

The Bachelor's dreamy season 20 star, Ben Higgins, and winner, Lauren Bushnell, have landed their very own spinoff.

Freeform announced that the new series, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After will premiere this October and document their lives as a couple, along with their wedding planning adventures.

Hopefully this reality show will have less drama than this season of The Bachelorette and will feature Ben giving Lauren a rose every day IRLm because romance.

10. Whoopi Goldberg’s First Selfie

Remember your first selfie? Probably not, because we’ve been living in the world of selfies for years.

Whoopi Goldberg, however, had allegedly never taken a selfie before her recent appearance on The Tonight Show. Shocking, we know.

Luckily, Jimmy Fallon is the perfect person to encourage someone to step out of their comfort zones and make a duck face.

The historical selfie was posted on the official Tonight Show Instagram account, where it will live on and inspire selfies for years to come.
