Heres How Martha Stewart Spends a Perfect Vacation in Paris

Over the holidays, business mogul and master of taste Martha Stewart took a whirlwind vacation in Paris. Lucky for us, she documented her trip to the romantic destination in three detailed blog posts.

From museum-hopping to fine dining, Stewart showed how to live well while making her way around the French capital. Heres how to follow in her footsteps.

Day 1: Puttin' on the Ritz

Stewart chose the newly-refurbished Hotel Ritz Paris as her home base. The famous hotel is known for its history of high-profile guests; as Stewart points out, fashion and literary stars like Coco Chanel and Ernest Hemingway were known to stay in the Ritz's opulent suites.

To kick off their Paris experience, Stewart and her family ventured first to the Eiffel Tower, where their views were obscured by heavy fog.

Next stop: the Muse Marmottan Monet, a converted mansion and Impressionist dreamland filled with hundreds of sculptures and painted works from artists like Edouard Manet and Claude Monet.

Stewart got a tour from the museums president, a nice added touch. She also swung by the lit-up Paris Wheel and Louvre courtyard at night, with its iconic I.M. Pei pyramid.

For dinner, she chose Verjus, feasting on treats like oysters wrapped in steamed cabbage and sunflower seed wafers spread with sunflower root butter.

So interesting, and so delicious, she affirmed.

Day 2: Versailles

Stewart fueled up with breakfast at at LEspadon, a restaurant at the Ritz, before hitting the road to Versailles. Prepaid tickets for early admission were a smart move at the museum, where the line snaked long into the distance. Stewart said it was her sixth visit to the palace, but I see new things each visitincluding some mold blooming in a corner, which she pointed out in her photos.

Afterward, Team Stewart hit up a few shops, including the wonderful French seed producer Vilmorin and E. Dehillerin, a world-famous culinary supply store.

She capped off the day with dinner at Le Hangar, a classic French bistro near the Center Pompidou.

Day 3: Art and Architecture

Stewart looked to the future on her last full day, visiting the new Louis Vuitton Foundation designed by architect Frank Gehry to take in works by artists like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse and to explore a contemporary glass installation.

No visit to Paris is complete without paying tribute to the ornate and imposing Notre Dame; Stewart made sure to fit that into her itinerary, too, before stopping for lunch at Le Bistrot Paris just off the Seine in central Paris and spending New Years Eve celebrating with martinis at the Ritz.

Day 4: A Culinary Au Revoir

On her final morning, Stewart got back to her culinary roots and dropped by the Ecole Ritz Escoffier to tour the expansive kitchens of the cooking schooland hopefully to snag a fresh macaron or two before bidding the city au revoir.

It was a lovely visit to Paris, she said. And thanks to her detailed itinerary, we can have a lovely visit just like Martha, too.
