Here's the 640-Horsepower 2017 Camaro ZL1 Attacking the Nurburgring
The 2017 Z/28 isn't the only high-performance Camaro that's been spied testing at the Nürburgring: The 640-horse 2017 Camaro ZL1 was just spotted blasting around the Nordschleife, and it sounds angry as hell. And unlike the Z/28, we can see this Camaro in all its un-camouflaged glory.
Even though the ZL1 isn't as track-focused as we assume the Z/28 will be, Chevy still wants this car to have some serious road course chops. At the ZL1's launch event earlier this year, GM product chief Mark Reuss made a big deal of the ZL1's track abilities, taking a swipe at the Mustang GT350 in the process.
"There's no need to purchase a track package to make the ZL1 track ready," said Reuss. Shots fired.
The ZL1 shares its supercharged V8 with the Cadillac CTS-V and gets an electronic limited-slip differential from the Corvette. Based on the video, it sounds like the ZL1s seen testing here are equipped with GM's new 10-speed automatic developed in tandem with Ford. GM is making a big deal of this gearbox, but you can have your ZL1 with an old-fashioned six-speed manual should you so choose.
There's a reason why the ZL1 is on our list of upcoming cars we can't wait to drive. This video only makes us more impatient.
