Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill said the child was a two-year-old boy and suffered fatal bite wounds during the attack.

A GoFundMe created to help the family with the financial burden of being out of work and the costs of a funeral identifies the boy as Mark Alan Partain.

Brent Patterson, a Madison County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said the boy was at a neighbor’s house when they were attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

A News 19 crew at the scene said they saw two dogs being taken in by animal control after the incident.

News 19’s Darryl Burke spoke with a neighbor who said one of his dogs, a Husky, was responsible for the attack. The man said both of his dogs were taken by animal control, though he said he believes only one was involved in the attack.

Berryhill said an autopsy will be performed on the boy this week in Huntsville.

The GoFundMe for Partain’s family says that in addition to donating to the online fundraiser, those looking to donate can do so directly to the New Hope Funeral Home. It added that a meal train will be set up soon for the family.
