A city spokesperson released details about the deadly wreck that happened Monday at about 6:12 p.m. on the highway near Sheila Drive, which is close to Crystal Falls Parkway. Police shut down the highway again for a time Tuesday to keep investigating the crash.

Leander city leaders said Brendan Kayle Johnson, a 29-year-old resident of Leander, died after his Honda motorcycle struck the left rear side of a Chevrolet van that turned left from Sheila Drive onto U.S. 183. They also said witnesses, police and EMS attempted to revive Johnson, but he died at the scene.

The van’s driver remained at the crash site, according to the city, and received a citation for failure to yield right of way turning left.
