Severe weather moving through Acadiana

Stay weather aware in Acadiana this Monday as heavy showers and storms are likely in the afternoon along with an elevated risk for severe weather. Very warm and muggy conditions start the day as temperatures are in the upper 70s. Only a few isolated showers are expected throughout the morning hours.

Widespread heavy storms become likely after 2:00 pm today and could last through much of this evening. Overall, most of the area could receive 2″ to 4″ inches of rainfall with isolated higher amounts. There is a low flash flooding risk with this disturbance. The Storm Prediction Center has Acadiana under the “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather which is a level 3 out of 5. Damaging winds are the primary threat with this disturbance but large hail and tornadoes are possible too.
