Typhoon Sarika Fuels Monsoon Conditions in Hong Kong

The tail end of Typhoon Sarika, which made landfall in China’s Hainan province on Tuesday, fueled the monsoon conditions in Hong Kong on Wednesday. Forecasters warn that Typhoon Haima could pass within 60 miles of Hong Kong on Friday as it tracks northwest from Luzon in the Philippines.

An amber rainstorm signal was in place, meaning that heavy rain was expected to fall, exceeding one inch per hour. Lansdslip warnings and thunderstorm warnings were also in force, and there was a risk of flash flooding in Northern Territories, according to local reports. Credit: Instagram/Chris Tang
