Police: 2 arrested after shots fired in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people were arrested Monday night after reported shots fired in Scranton.

While information is limited at this time, officials did confirm with 28/22 News there was a police presence at the 1000 block of Capouse Avenue in Scranton after shots were fired in the area.

Also, a 28/22 News reporter on the scene said gunshots could be heard in the distance just after a lacrosse game at Scranton Prep just after 7:15 p.m.

Police were seen escorting kids to their cars in the area of the intersection of Poplar Street and Wyoming Avenue, the 28/22 News employee says.

A Scranton Police Sergeant told 28/22 News an altercation broke out on the 1000 block of Capouse Avenue.

Two people were arrested in the altercation and their identities are not known at this time, the Scranton Sergeant explained.

PD: Car owner wanted for questioning in Scranton homicide

Officials say there are no reported injuries at this time.

Capouse Avenue was closed while police investigated the incident and the road reopened at about 9:00 p.m.
